Question 16: on people and land

Looking at Israel-Palestine in the world: I'm horrified and upset by how Palestinian people are treated in their homeland...
...the intrenched and increasing inequality and the way this is grafted into Israeli law;
...the lack of freedom;
...the daily destruction of homes and crops, and being forced to live in smaller and smaller pieces of land without access to basic resources.

I know it's complicated. And I'm really not a fan of demonisation.
Seeing the scale and scope of all this I feel so heavy and often overwhelmed.

But...
I am a child of South Africa.
I lived through the 80s and 90s.
I know change is possible.

Bringing alive a vision of common humanity needs our ongoing vigilance and effort. It's a journey.
One that is often difficult and bumpy.
Where we get to will be imperfect...
... but surely better?

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

I want to do what I can,
with what I have,
where I am.

______________

My question, my request: Will you join me?
Some ideas... things I've learnt from others.. small steps in a definite direction:
... Tell someone about this
... Ask a question.. to learn more ..to challenge ..to invite something different
... Listen to the stories of people living there on all sides of the political spectrum
... Change the way you spend money - and tell others why
... Something else?
